The Photograph That Lied a Little

An honest image can still flatter its subject.

I chose the angle that hid what I knew was there — the tired light, the mess just outside the frame, the version of the day that wasn't quite this calm. Nothing in the image is false, technically. Everything true was simply arranged. Most honesty in photography works this way: not lying, just choosing very carefully what gets to be the whole story.
