The Apology That Arrives Late

Timing changes what an apology can still do.

An apology on time repairs something. An apology three years late does something else entirely — it doesn't fix the wound, the wound has already scarred over on its own terms. What it does is confirm that the other person remembers too, that the event wasn't invented or exaggerated, that it mattered to both sides after all. Late apologies aren't for healing. They're for proof.
